Hyde Park Farmers Market
Hyde Park farmers market returns
HYDE PARK - The return of summer brings with it the return of the
Hyde Park Farmers Market. Co-sponsored by the Hyde Park Chamber of
Commerce, the market is essentially organized and run
by Paul and Dot Chenevert, owners of The Green
Oak Guest House.
This summer will mark the eleventh consecutive year that the town will
offer a farmers market and according to Paul Chenevert, this year will
feature new and more farm vendors and more crafters displays.
"We hope the event will be bigger and better than ever, and that
our location across from Town Hall will bring us great exposure." he said.
The market will open on June 1 and run through the last weekend in
October 26. It takes place
on Saturdays only, opening at 9 a.m. and running through the morning
until 2 p.m. The site of the market is across the street from Town of Hyde Park Town Hall
located at 4390 Route 9 (Albany Post Road).
In the past, the market has featured an array of fresh farm products,
including produce, cheese, meats, flowers and other products that local
farmers in the area create.
"It's an opportunity for Hyde Park residents to sample the amazing
products of local farms in the area," said Chenevert.
Chenevert said the Hyde Park Farmers market is the only such
organization in New York state to offer a scholarship to high school
students interested in studying agriculture.
"We are lucky that the market is successful enough that we can afford to
take a portion of the proceeds and dedicate to our children's
education," said Chenevert.
